The vineyard responsible for the production of the magnificent fruit used to create this wine is Vineyard 1869 in Napa County, California. And as the name suggests, this is an old vineyard. The colder temperatures of the region result in increased pigmentation build-up in the fruit helping to create a dark red wine with intense flavors that include rich coffee and delectable chocolate.

Vineyard 1869 is a small 10-acre parcel of land, home to some of the oldest documented Zinfandel vines on Earth. Proof of their existence can be found on a deed with the U.S. Geological Survey dated 1869. The roots of these ancient vines plunge almost 20 feet. And while passing through multiple layers of soil the fruit of these vines add unique flavor components and complexity to the wines they help to create.

For many many years these vines have been working hard, making a huge contribution to some very delicious wines.
