This unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes is deeply colored and well balanced with rich layers of cherry and raspberry. Smooth fruit forward flavors, with crushed spice and vanilla on the finish.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah juice was cold soaked for 24 hours before the yeast was added and was then fermented in stainless steel containers for eight days. During fermentation, the skin cap was punched three times a day, then pressed off the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in a mixture of two year old and new American oak barrels for 12 to 13 months before bottling.
The Syrah is grown on the Leonardo family ranch just outside of Woodbridge, California, while the Cabernet is grown on their ranch in Clements, California, both in the Lodi appellation. They hand picked the Syrah grapes when the flavors peaked and the berries began to shrivel.
