Fermented in stainless steel tanks, this Chardonnay captures the fresh and lively flavors of the varietal. Roughly 30% of the new wine was transferred to American oak barrels to age for a few months. This oak aging added some toast and creamy notes to the wine. The refreshing citrus, melon, and apple aromas and flavors predominate, finishing crisp and flavorful.
The majority of the fruit came from the Frank Johnson Vineyard, located at the southern edge of Dry Creek Valley less than two miles from the Russian River. This vineyards cool microclimate and alluvial soils produce wines of exceptional fruit and balance.
At Pedroncelli Winery, the winemaking goal is simple; showcase the distinctive fruit of each varietal. This focus on fruit is particularly important in creating the style of Chardonnay that winemaker John Pedroncelli Jr likes to produce.
