The 2003 Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 30 months in new French oak barrels making this a hearty and robust Cabernet with a deep garnet color.
The rich aromas of this Cabernet include black cherry, deep rich chocolates and an underlying hint of black currant. Rich concentrated flavors can be found in abundance as layers of deep red fruits mix with vanilla cream into a long flavorful finish.
Almost all of the grapes that produced this Sonoma Mountain Cabernet were grown on the slopes of the Van der Kamp vineyard; a vineyard which rises a good 1400 feet above the Sonoma valley floor. In addition to these grapes there is a small percentage of varietals selected from the Eagle Point vineyard in Mendocino County which sits even higher, at a 1600 feet elevation.
We recommend serving this 2003 Martin Ray Cabernet with rich foods like spiced and grilled steak or sauteed lamb chops and squash.
