The ideal environment for a wine cellar is one that controls temperature, humidity, vibration, and light. A wine cellar does not necessarily need to be a basement or even a cellar, but can actually be any kind of container that controls the environment in which your wines are stored.

You can buy a custom designed wine cellar, use a closet, a corner, a basement, or just about anything, as long as your "cellar" is designed with a way to control the environment of the wines in storage.
