Barbera is the infamous wine varietal of northern Italy's Peidmont region; a dry and robust red wine, Barbera has been traditionally served at Italian family tables for decades.

In Mendocino County, Barbera grapes are grown on well-drained gravelly terraces high above the valley floor. Grape yields are low from the older vines which results in the harvested grapes having highly concentrated flavors.

Il Cuore's Barbera is an exceptionally good wine when enjoyed with lamb dishes, fresh sausages, smoked or slow grilled meats including ribs, and creamy risotto.
