These wonderful vineyards and winery are in the heart of California's Sierra Nevada Foothills - in a premier wine region called Fair Play - named for the local township born in the Gold Rush era. For over 150 years, this region has been a thriving wine producing area, supplying the Italian segment of the '49er population.

The winery's property has had a fantastic history since that early time, first as a promising repository for gold, then as a homestead and orchard, allowing generations of families the opportunity to live off the beautiful land.

Sangiovese - Wonderful flavors of black cherry and toasted oak immediately flood your mouth while its fruity aromas fill your nose. This is a beautiful red wine, true to the classic Italian style in every way. Excellent paired with mild red sauces, or by itself.

Zinfandel - A wonderful full bodied, medium tannic red wine that is perfect with a bold, barbecued steak. The Sierra Nevada Foothills have become known to produce some of the best Zinfandels in California, and this wine is no exception!

Merlot - A fantastic red wine made with 100% El Dorado fruit. This beautiful Merlot has an exhilarating nose, rich color, a textured mid-palate, and a very satisfying finish. Another excellent wine from Charles B. Mitchell Vineyards.

Riesling - This sweet white varietal is a favorite of white wine lovers. It not only makes a great dessert wine, but it also goes great with many light dishes. Its aromas suggests ginger and flower on the nose, while its finish is reminiscent of honey and mango. A Gold Medal Winner!

Sauvignon Blanc - This refreshing white wine has a distinct pear blossom nose with a light and crisp finish. A perfect wine to serve with a cream sauce, fresh fish, or to enjoy all by itself.
